Developers are to be based either at the Britehouse Digital Office in Bryanston, or at a customer site.

Purpose of this position:

Britehouse Digital continuously seeks software development skills across all levels within the business either in order to replace turnover or due to growth.

Job Context

  • The Java Developer will work in a professional and comfortable work environment where the core focus is on learning, growth, knowledge sharing, teamwork and collaboration.
  • The Java Developer must work in a team with other Java and developers within boundaries of strict project deadlines.
  • This exposure also occurs through the different engagement models being project-based development, placements, outsourced teams and support and enhancement engagements.
  • The Java Developer will either be based at the Britehouse Digital Head Office or at a customer site.
  • The Java Developer must also be willing to do business travel to customer sites as per business requirements.

  1. Customer Relations.
  2. Documentation skills, i.e. the standard and quality of documents.
  3. Java
  4. JPA (e.g.: Hibernate, Eclipselink, Toplink)
  5. JAX-WS (Rest + SOAP)
  6. JUnit
  7. Maven
  8. The ability to solve problems.
  9. Demonstrated history of delivering completed projects.
  10. Billable hours.
  11. Communication skills, both written and verbal.

Qualifications

Required (not-negotiable):
  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate (Matric)
Advantageous (nice to have):
  • A relevant university computer science degree or equivalent.

Knowledge

  • Java
  • JPA (e.g.: Hibernate, Eclipselink, Toplink)
  • JAX-WS (Rest + SOAP)
  • JUnit
  • Maven
Preference will be given to candidates with
  • Java EE 6
  • Spring 4.x
  • EJB 3
  • JMS queues and topics
  • JBoss, Websphere or Glassfish experience
  • Oracle Java certified
