LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM and MENLO PARK, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/16/15 -- Delphix, the market leader in Data as a Service, today announced that South African drinks brewer SABMiller has worked with local reseller Britehouse to successfully deploy the Delphix DaaS solution to support the global rollout of its SAP system. By providing data 60 times faster, SABMiller has been able to reduce the time it takes to enable new territories to use SAP applications by reducing deployment times for core SAP systems.
In 2009, SABMiller began the global rollout of SAP for its core internal applications. Such projects typically require long application test cycles in order to implement new features and prove functionality, and IT was under pressure to reduce system refresh cycle times and get test systems back to the project teams earlier.
A crucial part of all SAP project cycles is moving data from live production systems into development and test environments.
In SABMiller's test infrastructure, there are 12 non-production environments that require periodic refreshes. With refresh periods of three or six months, the IT team had to perform 24 refreshes annually. Prior to the Delphix purchase, for each refresh the team had to run backups overnight (six hours), restore the database (10 hours), and make name changes (four hours). This 20-hour process not only delayed project cycles, but imposed direct costs on the business by increasing outsourcing spend, using DBA time on repetitive tasks, and requiring redundant storage.
SABMiller now uses Delphix to provision data for every development or test environment, accelerating all SAP projects. Since working with Britehouse to deploy Delphix in March 2014, the solution cut the time it takes to provision data to 10 minutes, saving 85 days of effort each year. DBAs are no longer required to work overtime, and storage costs were halved. (This excludes all SAP Basis Post Processing, which remains the same.)
"We have a complex environment, part of which is outsourced. Delphix engineers worked overtime to help us optimise and fine-tune our distributed infrastructure so we can get the very best out of the platform," said Johan Kruger, Technology Implementation Manager, SABMiller. "Delphix is an amazing and no-hassle solution. The platform has paid for itself in outsourced cost avoidance three times over and it just works."
"SABMiller is yet another global enterprise using Delphix Data as a Service to accelerate project cycles, increase productivity and reduce storage costs. We're delighted to have SABMiller as a customer," said Iain Chidgey, vice president, International Sales, Delphix.
Delphix is the market leader in Data as a Service, which helps enterprises accelerate application projects by 50%, including ERP rollouts, custom development, and migrations to private and public clouds. Delphix provides its DaaS Platform as on-premises or cloud software that automatically delivers the right data to the right team at the right time, instead of relying on complex processes and multiple IT teams to manually move unsecured data across systems. Over 20% of the Fortune 100 use Delphix to deliver data 99% faster across development, testing, and reporting environments, driving dramatic increases in productivity while improving data security. Delphix is headquartered in Menlo Park, California, with offices around the world.
